Summer Waterslide Challenge

Want to add an extra element of fun to your next Boulder Beach visit? Try the Summer Waterslide Challenge and challenge yourself to ride all of the waterslide rides in Boulder Beach in one visit. On this trip to Boulder Beach with 4 pre-teen boys, we were up to the challenge.

Now, this does take a certain level of strategic thinking if you plan to accept this challenge in the heart of summer. Our first slide choice was Eagle Hunt. Rightfully, this attraction is on the top of everyone’s list, so we had to hit this ride first before the crowd formed. Spoiler alert – this waterslide was the top favorite for ALL four of the boys. This ride checks a lot of boxes: its fast, you get soaked, and it’s a race! Which twosome in your group would win this race?

Next up was Ricochet Rapids. This is a family favorite of ours. The best part of this ride is that it is a family raft ride, so a group of 4-6 can ride together. It’s one long enclosed tube slide full of wild drops and turns. It is all enclosed so there are dark parts of the ride, making it that much more exhilarating. There are lots of laughter and screams with this one!

While we were up on the mountain trail, we decided to check out Avalanche Mountain. It is conveniently located next to Ricochet Rapids. This fun ride is an open-air raft-style slide that will have you smiling ear to ear. It feels like you’re riding through a wild canyon.

At this point we were halfway through our challenge! After a quick lunch break, it was time for Rumble Falls. There are four slides from which to choose. Two of the slides are mostly open to air, and the other two are fully enclosed. The boys decided to race down the two enclosed tubes. And the two youngest boys came rushing out first with smiles on their faces!

With only two more rides to choose from, its off to Velocity Peak we go! Here is the part where the four boys decided to dare me to choose the middle slide that drops straight down to the bottom. Up until this point, I had always chickened out. But with four boys daring me, I could not back down. So down I went on the middle slide… Talk about fun and fast! I will admit that I closed my eyes on that ride down.

Last but certainly not least, is my personal favorite, Riptide Racer. This ride features 6 side-by-side lanes for you and your friends to race down to the bottom. This one is my favorite because it’s a challenge within a challenge. Can you tell we are a competitive family? Our trick is to splash a little water on the bottom of the mat to make it go faster. You will thank us later! This is my all-time favorite slide at Boulder Beach. It is fast, fun, and competitive. What more could you want?

That’s it, we did it! On a Friday in the heart of summer, this was not an easy challenge. But we completed it in 6 hours and that was including a lunch break. After all the slides, I had to ask the boys which ride was their favorite. Unanimously they enthusiastically answered Eagle Hunt. In fact, we went on it again after the challenge was done! Which one will be your favorite?

Meet The Conductor

My name is Jessica. I’m a mom of two boys ages 9 and 11, and I’ve been married to my husband for nearly 14 years. In June of 2021 we decided to sell almost all of our belongings, buy a camper and some land, and move thousands of miles from anyone we knew to build our own family homestead. It’s been a wild adventure to say the least! If we’re not working on our land, you can find us out enjoying all that North Idaho has to offer. We love skiing (snowboarding for the boys), boating, fishing, hiking, and just everything outdoors! If you want to follow us along our journey, you can find us on instagram at PappyDaysRanch.
