So you’re thinking of taking a group to Silverwood? Perfect, then you really need to read what I have to say. I’m not trying to brag about how much I love the food at Silverwood. Anyone who follows us on Instagram or has read our other blogs knows that. But what I’m really saying is that I might be a master of discretion when it comes to food tasting… a McMaster of sorts (My last name is McMaster…. Okay… I’ll see myself out….)
As bad as that terrible joke was, my advice will be the exact opposite. (Unless you like terrible humor, in which case we should be friends)
Let’s get to talking about booking a group at Silverwood.
There are 4 points that apply to you if you are just thinking of using the group system for tickets, and a further 2 if you are adding on catering.
If you’re thinking about having a group, you’re going to want to email gr****@si*****************.com. This will open that channel where you can make your intentions known. The date you’re thinking of, how many people, etc. They are extremely prompt and helpful.
Organize
They will give you price brackets and when the price breaks are. The discounts start at 15 people, and then further discounts apply for every 50 people you have. They will send you a contract with everything that you need to know. You need to make sure that catering bookings are organized at LEAST 2 weeks in advance, with the group ticket bookings being at least 72 hours before collection.
If you are booking catering, then you can also organize a time for a meal slot. You can book them in hour increments. They will also give you a phone number for you to be able to call to confirm everything.
Confirm
You will have the opportunity to confirm your booking 72 hours before and make sure that all your details are squared away etc. Then you can rest assured that everything is taken care of.
Collect
When you arrive at Silverwood, you make your way to the left-hand side of the ticket booths. You will see a sign that says “group bookings.” Here you will show your ID and collect your tickets/meal bands. They make this picking-up process as smooth as possible for you. If you have any questions, the friendly staff at the window are more than happy to answer any questions that you could possibly have.
If you have just collected tickets, you can pass those out through your group and then proceed to the park entrance. Our personal favorite person to visit is Mr. Wesley. You’ll recognize him on sight by his Gandalf-like demeanor and beard.
If you collected meal bands, I suggest passing these out before entering the park. However, if you think that members of your group might be tempted to yank those off and lose them… perhaps consider waiting until your allotted meal slot to pass those out.
Catering (Chuckwagon / Pavilions)
So you are waiting at the Chuckwagon, all-you-can-eat. This is not an all-you-can-fill-your-plate-and-then-you’re-done meal. ALL YOU CAN EAT. This means if you want to go back 17 times through the line and consume as much as your body can physically handle… you absolutely can. However, a word of caution… I do NOT suggest going on Aftershock after…. Trust me….
This is an amazing option for groups, from schools to families, to cooperate events, etc. The best part is that you don’t have to bare in mind dietary requirements if you are gluten or dairy-free, vegetarian, vegan, low-carb, or keto. There are still options that you can enjoy. What a way to take the pressure off, right?!
When you purchase a one-time meal, you normally have a stamp on your wrist. When you are part of a group catering, you have a meal band.
Meal time (Chuckwagon / Pavilions)
Your band will be shown at the entrance and then checked again. Your bands will either be red, green, or blue, and either solid or in stripes. This lets the staff know who you are and where they need to direct you. The amazing staff will let you know which line you are to go in and which designated Pavilion you are in.
The food includes: delicious wood-grilled chicken quarters, tender pulled BBQ pork, buns, hot dogs, mac and cheese, coleslaw, cornbread, country green beans, baked beans, corn on the cob, garden salad, watermelon, cookie, and assorted Pepsi beverages, lemonade, iced tea and water.
You’ll notice the lines of all the other places to eat in the park and truly understand what an amazing deal this is. The ability to walk right up and then turn around and eat within a few minutes is a priceless gift that will leave you wanting more, and you will be telling everyone about your experience.
We are HUGE fans of the Chuckwagon in general. Everything about this place is amazing, and it’s the best-untold secret of the park. It’s tucked away in the back corner, all under shade which is EXACTLY what you need on a hot day. The breeze coming in from the sides while you listen to the whistle of Tremors and the screaming echo across from Aftershock over the munching and crunching of amazing food that is bottomless, it’s truly our favorite area of the park.
You can sit back, relax, and enjoy what the park has for you. And that is excellent food, that is extra excellent shared with a group. The Chuckwagon is like the breadsticks at the Olive Garden, bottomless, needed, and should be shared with others.
Pro Tip: The Chuckwagon is addictive, and you will find yourself craving it at any moment of the day… so don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Meet The Conductor
Hi! I’m Hannah! I have a family of 4, hailing from all corners of the globe, we’ve traveled the world with our kids, and constantly encourage our children to try new things, and experience new things. Enjoying in the little details is just as important to us as enjoy life’s major milestones. We’ve recently moved to America from New Zealand. We have a passion for family, and encouraging family to spend time together. To truly be a unit. I lived 21 years in England, then 10 years in New Zealand, My husband Devin lived 18 years in South Africa, and then 18 years in New Zealand. Our kiddos were born and raised in New Zealand, and don’t ask us what our accents are. They just awkwardly change mid conversation to suit the subject for no apparent reason. We love food, family, and theme parks. So with Silverwood, it’s a match made in heaven!
