First time visiting Silverwood? Welcome! You’re in for a lot of fun! Planning a theme park trip can be exciting yet overwhelming, especially if you’re coming from out of town. Where is it? Where should you stay? Are there other things to do in the area? No worries, I’ve got you covered! Here’s your ultimate guide to visiting Silverwood and the surrounding area, whether you’re coming from near or far.
1. Getting There
Silverwood is located in Athol, Idaho, just off Highway 95. It’s about 45 minutes northeast of Spokane, WA. ,30 minutes north of Coeur d Alene, ID and about 30 min south of Sandpoint, ID. If you’re flying in,the nearest airport is Spokane International Airport (GEG). From there, you can rent a car or take a bus, uber or taxi to wherever you are staying. Once at the park, parking is $10 per day!
2. Where to Stay
When traveling from out of town, finding the right place to stay can set the tone for your trip. Here are a few options, catering to different preferences:
– Silverwood RV Park and Campground: Adjacent to the park, this is ideal for RV travelers or those looking for a camping adventure. With 131 full hookups and 44 tent sites, it is the closest option to Silverwood and perfect for a multi-day adventure! It also has free wifi, laundry facilities, and ticket discounts to the park! – Vacation Rentals: Prefer a homier vibe or traveling with a group? Consider renting a cabin or house through Airbnb or VRBO. There are many options nearby, especially in Coeur d’Alene.

If you’re looking for the ultimate family-friendly option, check out Triple Play Resort in Hayden! Only 15 minutes from Silverwood, it offers spacious accommodations and is connected to Triple Play Family Fun Park! Talk about convenience!
Triple Play offers a multitude of fun activities such as mini-golf, go-karts, bowling, laser tag, and even an indoor water park! A perfect addition if Boulder Beach isn’t open yet or you want to pack in some additional entertainment for your trip!
We had the pleasure of trying it out for ourselves and spent our first day at Triple Play trying all the fun activities (my kids especially loved the indoor ropes course) and then we spent the evening at the indoor water park sliding down slides until we got tired!

3. When to Visit
Silverwood is open from May through September. The summer months are peak season, so expect more crowds. Tip: Sundays are less busy. If you’re looking for a quieter visit, try going in May, early June or September. Keep in mind that Boulder Beach is only open during those summer months so check the park’s calendar for special events and operating hours.
Visiting in the fall? Don’t miss Scarywood, which transforms the park into a haunted wonderland from spooky mazes, dark rides, and terrifying scare zones. It runs from the end of September all through October- perfect for your fall travel plans! Tickets for Scarywood are sold online only and sell out quickly, so secure your tickets in advance here.
4. Tickets and Deals
– Buy Online: Purchasing tickets online saves both time and money, as prices are cheaper than at the gate.
– Season Passes: If you plan on visiting multiple days, consider a season or multi-day pass for discounted rates.
– Special Promotions: Keep an eye out for special promotion days and discounts, especially for groups, seniors, and military personnel!
5. Nearby Attractions: Coeur d’Alene, Sandpoint, and Spokane

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho (30 min south of Silverwood)

Tubbs Hill: A scenic hiking trail just minutes from downtown that offers incredible views of the lake. It’s perfect for all skill levels and is a great spot to picnic or swim in the summer.
Downtown CDA: Stroll along Sherman Avenue for boutique shopping, art galleries, and great restaurants.
Coeur d’Alene Resort: Even if you’re not staying at this luxury resort, you can still enjoy lakeside dining or indulge in a spa day. Golf enthusiasts will appreciate the world-famous floating green at the resort’s golf course. Make sure to stop into their Dockside Restaurant for one of their famous Gooey Sundaes!
Sandpoint, Idaho ( 45 minutes north of Silverwood)
Sandpoint is a charming town nestled on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille, the largest lake in Idaho. It’s known for its outdoor recreation and artistic community.
Schweitzer Mountain Resort: This mountain resort offers hiking, biking, ziplines, and stunning views! It’s an outdoor lover’s paradise. Check out all the outdoor activities here.
Lake Pend Oreille: Enjoy a day of fishing, boating, or paddleboarding. Don’t miss City Beach, a great spot to relax with picnic areas and swimming.
