Every year from the end of September through the end of October, Silverwood undergoes a very spooky makeover, going from family-friendly amusement park to an immersive haunted playground best enjoyed by guests 12+ in age. For us, this is the perfect excuse to leave the kiddos with their grandparents and plan a very special double date night with those lucky guys we call our husbands.
Here are five reasons we think YOU should be adding a Scarywood date night to your autumn bucket list this season.
It’s A Great Excuse to Cuddle Up
Whether you’re on a first date or have been together for decades, a night at Scarywood is going to encourage all the cuddling up!
There are constant jump scares throughout the park. Whether you’re heading to your next destination or walking through one the haunts itself, hanging tight to you S.O.’s hand (or, in Wendy’s case, hugging on to his entire body with her face buried in his back with her eyes squeezed shut) is all part of the date-night fun!
Think watching a scary movie on the couch is the perfect cuddly Halloween date night? You’re not wrong, but Scarywood takes this experience and levels it up 100 times. Watching a scary movie? At Scarywood, you’re IN the scary movie! Hold on tight to your honey; you’re in for a wild ride!
Unique Fall Date Night Experience
Apple picking and pumpkin patches have been all the rage for the fall-loving couples among us for many years now. And yes, that’s so…cute. But for a completely unique Spooky Season experience, Scarywood is where it’s all at!
There are five total haunts to walk through, and we definitely recommend walking through all five. We won’t give too much away here, but let’s just say there are pigs. With chainsaws. And mummies. And clowns. And…well, you’ll see.
Aside from the spooky haunts, many of the rides are open, and a totally different experience at night! Timber Terror actually runs BACKWARDS. (Yes, you read that right). There is also Scarywood-ified version of the Magic Show playing once an hour starting at 8 PM.
A pumpkin patch could never.
Spooky Dining for the Foodie Couples
The menus at Silverwood get a Spooky Season makeover just like the rest of the park!
For the pumpkin spice lovers out there, Scarywood has included a Pumpkin Spice Funnel cake. Also on the sweets menu is a churro pie topped with honey churro ice cream drizzled with salted caramel sauce. We are so here for these seasonal twists!
There are plenty of places around the park to grab a beverage. Hot cocoa and coffee are readily available, and the perfect way to toast up after all those chills (and we don’t mean the weather!). If adult beverages are more your speed, the most popular item, the Blood Bag, can be found at Lindy’s.
Perfect For Group Dates
Now, if you and your honey want to do this as date night for just the two of you, that would be great. However, with an experience this epic, it’s even more fun to share the night with friends.
Only one small group at a time can go through a haunt, so if you go with other couples you’ll automatically be your own group walking through, which makes for a fun, intimate experience.
Also, there’s safety in numbers…right?
Scarywood is OUTRAGEOUSLY Fun
The best reason we can give you to put Scarywood on your date night calendar this season is that it is truly outrageously fun.
YES, it was terrifying. We screamed, we ran, we hid. We also laughed until tears streamed down our faces, took pictures with our favorite characters, and exclaimed “This is SO FUN!” more times than we can count. Believe us when we tell you this is going on both of our must-do autumn date night checklists every single year.
