The New Emerald Forest. Does it live up to the hype?
All winter, I have driven past the billboard on Highway 95, advertising Silverwood’s new water coaster, Eagle Hunt. The first dueling water coaster in the west and the longest dueling water coaster in the US! The best part? This attraction is just one part of the new highly anticipated expansion to Boulder Beach called Emerald Forest. And like many others, we could not wait to check it out! From the latest attractions to the new food pavilion, we were counting the days until warmer weather and the grand opening.
Finally, the day arrived: the grand opening! And you can bet we were there, ready for fun. First impressions? The landscaping is gorgeous! It’s like a secret garden with beautiful flower beds all around. Second, there is so much space—plenty of tables outside the new Rapids Grill and lounge chairs at the new Salmon Run. If cabanas are your style, you can rent a brand-new cabana or villa for the day. It feels so new and fresh, but with all the usual excitement and fun you expect at Boulder Beach.
Now, let’s talk about the main attraction, Eagle Hunt. It’s the first thing you notice when you walk into Emerald Forest. It stands tall with a huge eagle sculpture in front of the entrance. And with the sounds of the water rushing down the 925-foot-long coaster, you can’t help but be filled with excitement in anticipation of your first ride. So, what did we think; did it live up to the hype? Well, from the words of my 11-year-old son, “I loved it! I like how you go down but got pushed back up and kept going”. My two boys were full of smiles and excitement, recounting their experiences on the new ride. It is an exhilarating ride, and you will get soaked. It really does live up to the hype and is perfect for the thrill-seeker in your group.
After the adrenaline rush of riding the new water coaster, you may have developed quite the appetite. You won’t have to venture far to Rapids Grill. Silverwood says this grill can feed up to 1,200 guests per hour! Whether you are in the mood for a delicious cheeseburger, corn dog, salad, or something sweet, Rapids Grill has got you covered. With 2 separate entrances and areas to make your selections, I can see how this food pavilion can quickly accommodate many guests. And the wonderful smell of the grill will draw you in for sure. My boys were most excited about discovering cookies that were the size of their faces! I have to say, they were quite delicious!
As for drinks, Northern Flights will quench your thirst! Although they serve fountain drinks and some adult beverages, slushies seem to be the main attraction here at Northern Flights. And you really cannot go wrong with a cold slushy on a hot summer day.
Okay, so what is our honest opinion about Emerald Forest? We will DEFINITELY be coming back for more! 10/10 Would Recommend.

My name is Jessica. I’m a mom of two boys ages 9 and 11, and I’ve been married to my husband for nearly 14 years. In June of 2021 we decided to sell almost all of our belongings, buy a camper and some land, and move thousands of miles from anyone we knew to build our own family homestead. Definitely better than we had expected! My little one loved the new water slides! so much fun and safe! The new rapids grill is great for fast delicious food, saving more time for rides then in lines! Only wish we would have had more time to try the water coaster, hopefully next time!
